DEFY MasonrySaver 40-S Water Repellent is a penetrating water repellent which contains 40% solids propietary silane in an alcohol carrier. The silane penetrates most masonry and concrete pores and capillaries up to 1/4" or more depending on surface porosity and moisture content at the time of application.

DEFY MasonrySaver 40-S can be used on vertical above-grade concrete - pre-cast or cast-in-place, clay brick, mortars, and natural stone. Natural substrate color and surface textures are unaffected, with little or no gloss created. However, overapplication can cause some darkening.

DEFY MasonrySaver 40-S Water Repellent reacts with the silica in concrete and masonry in the presence of ultraviolet light and atmospheric moisture. This reaction forms strong permanent bonds beneath the surface and creates a hydrophobic zone that prevents water molecules from penetrating, while allowing free migration of water vapors. The chemical bonds formed by this process allow the product to become an integral part of the substrate and provide long term water repellent protection.

This product is formulated for use on vertical above-grade surfaces only and will not seal visible cracks and should not be used as a substitute for repointing damaged mortar joints. A water repellent may not be able to completely resist wind-driven rain on all surfaces.
